Let’s Go Shopping- Waiver Wire After Week 4
Let’s Go Shopping- Waiver Wire After Week 4
Four weeks are in the book, but now is the time to make those key moves to replace injured and underperforming players on your roster. Later this week, I will review the season's first quarter on a team-by-team basis. This will help you spot some developing situations you might want to plan for in the coming weeks. It’s always a great idea to check your league to see if some heavier rostered players are available or get dropped during the bye weeks ahead. One of the best strategies is to pick up a guy who floated in waivers during his bye week, grabbing them in the secondary market before everyone else goes after him the following week. Let’s look at what happened last week that shaped this week’s waiver wire. Good luck shopping this week!
Starter Worthy Weeks of Note
QB: Joshua Dobbs, AZ: QB6 for the week with 23.4 points: Even heading into the bye weeks and with injuries to others, I would be afraid of starting Dobbs. (93% Available)
QB: Baker Mayfield, TB: QB8 for the week with 22.9 points: Baker has been solid for real football and won’t lose the job soon, but his weekly upside is limited. (87% Available) (On BYE)
QB: CJ Stroud, HOU: QB10 for the week with 21.8 points: How is he still available in so many ESPN leagues? The rookie is as solid as they come after the elite 5 or 6. (67% Available)
QB: Zach Wilson, NYJ: QB13 for the week with 19.2 points. Had a surprisingly decent start against a tough defense and now gets a soft matchup this week. (98% Available)
RB: Khalil Herbert, CHI: RB8 for the week with 22.2 points. Just when it looked like he was losing the grip on the starter job, he had a great game last week but against a weak defense. (23% Available)
RB: Jaleel McLaughlin, DEN: RB10 for the week with 19.4 points. Javonte Williams went down with an injury, and while it doesn’t look severe, McLaughlin might get the chance this week. (99% Available)
WR: Nico Collins, HOU: WR3 for the week with 35.8 points. This was the second time Collins posted a considerable number and the 3rd time in 4 starts that he helped your team win. (21% Available)
WR: Michael Wilson, AZ: WR6 for the week with 26.6 points. The rookie is getting acclimated to the NFL quickly and has back-to-back solid weeks this year for the first time. (98% Available)
WR: Romeo Doubs, GB: WR11 for the week with 18.5 points. That’s three 18-point games in four starts this season, folks, and he is still available for some reason. (66% Available)
WR: Curtis Samuel, WSH: WR12 for the week with 18.2 points. Has posted two solid weeks already, and his other two games were 6 and 7 points, respectively. Great flex play during bye weeks. (87% Available)
TE: Jake Ferguson, DAL: TE4 for the week with 14.7 points. That’s three solid games in a row for Ferguson, who has kept the rookie on the bench, and that won’t change soon. (75% Available)
TE: Dalton Schultz, HOU: TE6 for the week with 13.2 points. Big things were expected from this free agent signing, but his days on milk bottles in Houston might be done. (45% Available)
Top FAAB or Waiver Targets This Week: 40% or More Available on ESPN
QB CJ Stroud: I’m a believer for the rest of the season. 30% FAAB
WR Michael Wilson: The start of something good. 20% FAAB
RB Jaleel McLaughlin: He could win the job if he does well. 15% FAAB
WR Romeo Doubs: Getting a solid role and rushing game isn’t great. 10% FAAB
TE Jake Ferguson: This has made me a believer going forward. 10% FAAB
Smaller Dollar Hollers
QB Zach Wilson Gets a favorable matchup this week if you need a one-week replacement.
WR Curtis Samuel: A solid Bye week replacement to get you through these weeks.
RB Ronnie Rivers: Kyren Williams is listed as questionable, so worth a dollar to protect.
WR: Joshua Palmer: On his Bye week, but worth a stash since he is available in half the leagues.
Wrapping It Up
Too many players need to check back on the players available in their leagues after waivers clear on Tuesday Night or Wednesday. This time of the year, as we head into the first Bye weeks, managers will try to float a guy through waivers if they have a tight roster due to injuries and byes. You won’t get Keenan Allen, but you could get Joshua Palmer. Always check to see who is dropped for their waiver moves because that player could be better than your worst bench player. Good luck with waivers this week.
